Planning on fishing down at the Jersey Shore? Here are a few tips to keep in mind!
Jersey Shore Fishing Tackle Tips – Fishing Rod
When fishing, it’s best to have a medium to heavy fishing rod. Although many surf anglers usually use fishing rods that are 8-12 feet long, an average 6 to 7 foot rod is perfect for surf fishing. Keep in mind that unlike fresh water fishing rods, salt water rods are made to resist corrosion. If you care about keeping your fresh water fishing rod in top condition, you may want to consider purchasing a salt water fishing rod. If you are on a vacation and you brought your fresh water gear, just make sure to rinse your rod and reel in fresh water once you are done fishing each day.
Jersey Shore Fishing Tackle Tips – Fishing Reel
When surf fishing, a large fishing reel works best. After a long day of fishing, rinse the reel off with fresh water to avoid corrosion.
Jersey Shore Fishing Tackle Tips – Fishing Line:
We recommend using at least 20 pound fishing line while fishing in the surf. You never know if you will catch something really big!
Have fun fishing at the Jersey Shore, and remember to always be safe! Fin-Atics.com is based in Ocean City, and serves all of Cape May County, including Wildwood, Cape May, Avalon, Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, North Wildwood and more.
